Do you have personal rules for dressing that you don't even think about breaking?
I thought it might be a fun exercise to break all my own styling rules in the blog posts for this week.
I rarely wear a shirt that buttons down the front. Being busty means gaps and buttons that fail. One of the ways I overcome that problem is to buy a size larger but that always results in sleeves that are way too long. Short of tailoring, three-quarter length sleeves are the perfect solution to this problem.
This simply effortless top was sent to me by Body Language By Connie. The sleeves have roll tabs which can give it a more casual vibe.
The bracelet I am wearing was sent to me by French Kande. The quilted chain bag is old from Express.
I haven't worn shorts in about twenty years. They don't fit into my lifestyle, and I feel very self-conscious about the technicolor veins on my left leg. For the same reason, I rarely wear dresses.
These Bermuda length polka dot pull on shorts by Tribal Sportswear are so cute; I decided to give them a try. They were sent to me by Body Language By Connie. These shorts are so dressy that I could also wear them with pantyhose and a blazer if I wanted.
The shorts are nicely tailored with comfortable slits at the sides, and they end at my best skirt length which all work well for me. When the occasion calls for something more sporty or casual this look will serve me well while maintaining my personal style.
Above, I paired the look with a black vest sent to me by Fabrizio Gianni but the more casual look, without the vest, is another option.
The Anitsa two tone point-toe flat shoes are by Circa Joan & David via Saks Off 5th. Flats are another wardrobe item I rarely wear. I do not find flats comfortable most of the time. When I purchase them for those times when they would be more appropriate for the look or the event, I search for a foot flattering slim style that shows the top of the foot and pointed toes.
My schedule will be very hectic for the next three weeks as my philanthropic events, speaking engagements, modeling, and acting jobs take me on the road a lot. I will schedule blog post as often as I can but won't be around very much for our fun conversations on Facebook. I am very grateful for your support and positive comments!
Thank you for joining us on this journey through midlife and beyond. The second fifty years are truly the best!
