Bag Color Tip

My Tahari by Arthur S. Levine jacket was found at Dillard's during their end of season sale last summer. It has become one of my favorite dressy jackets.

I once read a style suggestion that went something like this. "Buy a handbag the color of your hair and you will carry it more often than any other." I really do carry my gray bags most often! This one by Calvin Klein is one of my daytime favorites. I found it at T.J.Maxx last fall.

The slacks and the shoes are by Ivanka Trump via Saks Off 5th.
I am wearing a long sleeve black tee from Chico's. In case the weather turns cooler, I have a black trench coat by Fabrizio Gianni thrown over my arm.

Red Jacket Giveaway

I found this knit jacket at Nordstrom a few months ago.

I love the way it jazzes up a pair of faded jeans.

After I wore it for a total of three hours, I found that I am allergic to the fabric. (Made from polyester, rayon and spandex in Mexico.) It has a decorative large brown button closure.

So this means I am giving it away!
My loss your gain.

About the rest of this look: The brown long sleeve V neck tee is old from T.J.Maxx the faded jeans are from Chico's. The Vince Camuto boots are old from Nordstrom. Similar boots here.

If you would like to have this size medium red lightweight knit jacket, please send me an email with your name and address to Susan@FiftynotFrumpy.com
On Monday I will ask Mr. Mickey to choose a winner at random.

Congratulations to Debbie Strickland!
She is the winner of the jacket.

Animal Print Heels

Friday evening is the perfect time to unwind and relax over a leisurely dinner with good company.

I am wearing a long jacket with a black tank and leggings all from Chico's. Normally I would not wear leggings with heels but these have a texture like the heavier Travelers material from a few years ago.

The Chanel inspired bag is from Express.

The dramatic cuff is now on sale at Chico's. I am offering a caution if you buy this cuff. The druzy stone is rough and can pick your clothing. I painted it with clear nail polish to smooth the rough surface a bit.

The Guess animal print and leather shoes are from T.J.Maxx. The ring is from B'Dazzled in Blowing Rock, N.C. and the octagon shape sterling silver with clear stones earrings are old.

Drive Your British Car Night

Mr. Mickey sold his last Rolls Royce three years ago but we still enjoy attending the Drive Your British Car event at our favorite local restaurant, Gourmet & Company

This is Ben. He is Mr. Mickey's dear life long friend. Literally they were born while their parents lived across the street from each other and they have been the best of friends for their whole lives.

This beautiful lady is Heather. She is a very special part of the Gourmet & Company family. We love to see her sweet smile when we walk in.

We always look forward to this fun evening!

There are many beautiful cars on display and the owners are there to talk to along with vendors and lots of friends to visit with. Later we join the members of the British Car Club for dinner.

I wore white jeans, a white tank top and a light weight silver cardigan from Chico's and a bold silver necklace along with those shoes I found at T.J.Maxx yesterday.

The Symphony Season Finale

The final performance of the season for the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra was last evening.

As is our tradition for symphony performances we had an early dinner at our favorite restaurant in town, Gourmet and Company. We were about to leave when one of the beautiful twenty-something servers gave me the ultimate compliment. "Miss Susan, I love your style. I would wear any of your looks in a heartbeat." Thank you, Cori! You made my day.

Symphony performances are held at the Mary B. Martin Auditorium at Seeger Chapel on the campus of Milligan College. We have often wished we could share a picture with you, but it is always too dark when we arrive. At last we were able to capture a few images for you.

The guest performer for this evening was John Pizzarelli who performed jazz greats with his group and the orchestra as backup.

I wore a sweater and pants from Chico's last year. The black top is from Covered Perfectly. The shoes are from T.J.Maxx earlier this year.

Thank you for joining me on this fun journey through midlife and beyond.

Shopping in Asheville

The sun came out and the weather was beautiful on this Saturday. That means it was a perfect day to go shopping!

With temperatures in the fifties, a blazer, and a scarf was all we needed for outerwear.

We stopped at the North Carolina rest stop on the way to Asheville just to enjoy the sunshine and the majestic view of the mountains.

Carmel's in the Grove Arcade is one of our favorite places to stop for an early afternoon treat of their yummy spicy pimento cheese.

A yearly ritual for us includes going to the annual clearance sales at Dillard's in the Asheville Mall. We stopped by the men's store where I tried on this fun men's hat. I didn't buy it but it sure was cute!

This is a happy woman! There was a three-day sale which included 40% off their already reduced prices. I bought three pairs of shoes, a white blouse, and four jackets. The total was less than $220!

One of the things I love to do in any city is to drive through the older neighborhoods to look at the houses. Biltmore Forest is a village outside of Asheville which was built on land from part of the original Biltmore estate.

We watched this house being built a few years ago and it remains one of our favorites.

Looking up from one of the well-manicured holes of the golf course you can just see the top portion of this fabulous home.

This is another newer home. My guess is that wing to the left houses an indoor swimming pool.

Have you ever seen a more artistic mailbox?

Before dinner, we stopped to visit the Blue Spiral Gallery to see my friend Coralie Tweed's collection of beautiful paintings.

We had a wonderful dinner at our favorite vegetarian restaurant in town, The Laughing Seed Cafe. This is carrot cake done the vegetarian way. It was awesome!

Today I wore a fuchsia V-neck long sleeve tee which I found on sale at T.J.Maxx earlier in the week. The darker fuchsia scarf is from Target. The blue blazer is old. The Platinum straight leg jeans are from Chico's. The boots are old from Stein Mart. The bag is by Michael Kors via T.J.Maxx. My moisturizer and almost all of the makeup I am wearing is from Merle Norman Cosmetics. Lip gloss is Plush Plum Colour Riche Balm L’Oréal Paris.

Friday Date Night

Black and white with a pop of red continues to be a favorite combination.

The statement necklace is enough all on its own so my earrings and ring are small. Turning up your collar and wearing three quarter or turned up sleeves helps to make you look taller and more slim. I always wear a platform or higher block heel shoe with cropped or ankle pants to make my legs look longer than they are.

The light weight jacket and tank are from Chico's. The pants are from Coldwater Creek last year. The necklace was a gift from Mr. Mickey. The shoes are BCBGeneration from last year. The clutch is Kenneth Cole Reaction via T.J.Maxx from last year.

Thanks for visiting my blog today. I hope you have a lovely weekend!
