Your BFF's Closet

Some of my favorite pieces in my collection were hand-me-downs from my dear friend Mitzi. A few years ago, we both lost weight. As she shrank out of some things, they still fit me because of my larger upper body.

This Ralph Lauren cardigan with a faux fur collar is a great piece to throw on with jeans and a Covered Perfectly Simple Comfort long sleeve top. I love that these tops can be tucked in since they are never bulky.

I love the idea of a closet swap when you are losing weight. When I started my weight loss journey a few years ago, I wore some things only a couple of times before I shrank out of that size. My staff got lots of almost new pieces as my sizes changed.

Team up with a friend to swap clothes as you lose weight. It is a great way to stay motivated and not have to spend a mint on clothes as you change sizes.

These jeans are Girlfriend Ankle Jeans from Chico's. I wore Ralph Lauren crew socks with Calvin Klein booties. The bag is old from Finely House Couture in Blowing Rock.

I love the sweater...and I must say, that I love your sunglasses. Where do you find them? Hope you are staying warm. Have a good day.

Good Morning, Susan. I hope you are staying safe and warm in this snow storm. I live in Wise and we are getting a lot of snow. I love your sweater and also your sunglasses. You have some great ones. I have trouble getting something that looks good on me - any advice. I simply love your blog. Keep up the good work!

Hi Henrietta! I got those sunglasses at T.J.Maxx. They are by Kenneth Cole Reaction. I tried on a lot of different looks before I found what looked and felt right for me. If you can take selfies of different outfits, that sometimes helps you to identify what looks best on you. Thank you!

Some people have girlfriend nights where they exchange clothes with their friends. This only works if you're somewhere near their size and shape. Won't work for me -- we're tall, short, all shapes and sizes. But that's where consignment stores and sales come in. As I begin this journey to a new weight and healthier life, it will be a challenge to find clothes, but it's important to stay motivated by feeling good in clothes that fit properly and boost my spirit along the way. Thanks as always, Susan. I have a different lifestyle, different colouring, shape and size from you, but your guidelines are still helpful.

Great outfit -- gorgeous sweater! And, to me, it's such a giggle that sometimes the best things come in as unexpected gifts. Nice to hear about your clothes swap, that is such a good and modern idea (partnership and collaboration is so constructive for the 21st century).

My sister-in-law and I have shopped one another's closets for years! I always say that I get the best deals as she has wonderful taste and a much bigger clothing budget than I do.
