Walk A Mile

Our Mother's Day celebration included a fabulous meal prepared for our family by my sweet sister.

I carried an old BCBG bag and wore jeans by NYDJ and sunglasses by Kenneth Cole Reaction, all found at T.J.Maxx. I rarely go there anymore, but I got lucky on those visits. The plain white tank is by Peck & Peck via Stein Mart.

The oh so comfortable waffle texture casual jacket is by Focus, and it was sent to me by ShopMyFairLady.

The color and texture of this jacket are not typically found in my bag of tricks. My usual choices include smooth surfaces, bold, saturated colors, and sleek lines. I made this work for me by making sure all the other elements were structured and plain.

The sandals are from last year. They are by Vince Camuto via Belk. I found them on sale at the end of the season, so I bought two pairs. I know I will wear them often because they go with everything. Last year, I wore out a similar favorite style by Jessica Simpson.

The statement necklace is from an elegant store in Blowing Rock, North Carolina. This estate piece immediately captivated me!

We always visit Finely House Couture and Carriage Trade Antiques when we are in Blowing Rock. You never know what unusual treasures might be waiting there. Our friends who own these shops possess impeccable taste.

This video is in response to a challenge I received from someone who commented on a Facebook post.

Smiling so big to see you rocking those heels like they were designed for you!
I'm going to get my heels out and practice so I don't look like I need a ballet bar when I'm walking in them!
Have a great day and thank you so much for all the encouragement!
Love, Amy

The lavender jacket may not be a color you usually wear but I think you look beautiful in that color. Thank you for all the inspiration and for showing us that we can still be beautiful after 50!

The turquoise necklace looks really nice with the lilac jacket! And heel height is such an individual thing; I say if you love them and can wear them comfortably, go for it.

One day I want to visit Blowing Rock....it sounds lovely :)

I love heels, too! I have a theory that wearing them actually improves or at least maintains our balance as we get older!

I keep hearing "Walk This Way" in my head during that video.

LOL! Now, that is how to walk in heels. Very nicely done. :)

I love your heels. I have found that when I wear heels my occasional knee pain is better than with flats. I really don't like women tearing down other women. If your knees, feet or some other ailment prevent you from wearing stylish heels, don't criticize others who do. Keep up your heel wearing and swagger!!! I kept thinking "Walk This Way"too!

Wow...I wish I could still wear heels but they bother my feet too much!!! You look fabulous.

You go girl! I like heels but can't wear them all day. Flats hurt my left heel. A nice wedge seems to be the best for me now. Enough height to still elongate the leg.

The mauve compliments your hair colour beautifully, Susan. But, oh my, I'm so impressed with your confidence on those heels, wow!
