Chico's Event

Our local Chico's store recently had a full week of special events. I was asked to model in the store on Saturday.

I loved meeting and helping some of the clients who came in to get tips. We talked about how to use the correct texture and style of accessories to complement your personal features.

For example, while the scarf above is lovely, the bold, sleek silver necklace is a much better choice for my cool coloring and rounded features.

By the end of the day, we were all exhausted!

I was so happy to see my sweet friend Rose Sorrell!

Black and White with Reptile

Last night Mr. Mickey and I had sushi at Ming's Aian Cuisine here in Johnson City.

Do you like sushi? They have excellent fresh and beautifully presented rolls. This is a photo from their Facebook page. We had about half this much!

I was busy all day with meetings, another fundraiser, and other projects, so I wore black ankle pants and a mesh hem black tank with an antique white boyfriend blazer and jewelry, all from Chico's. The shoes are from Nordstrom.

The quilted chain bag is from Express. The sunglasses are Kenneth Cole from T.J.Maxx.

I will be modeling for Chico's in the Johnson City store on Saturday again. Please stop by if you can! I don't work for them, but I love their clothes and accessories, so I am often asked to model for the local stores.

Sunday Brunch

Mr. Mickey and I spent the past weekend at the Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina for their 27th annual comedy classic weekend.

After we checked out on Sunday morning, we drove down to the Biltmore Village to do some shopping before brunch.

On our final day in Asheville, I wore a blue Travelers jacket with a mesh hem black layering tank and black straight-leg pants. I modeled this jacket with white at an in-store event here. The clothing as well as the necklace, cuff, and shoes are from Chico's. One of the many reasons I wear Chico's clothing so often is that the pieces pack well, work together across seasons, and with the other items in my closet.

There are many great places to shop in the Biltmore Village as well as restaurants and an antique district.

Spring is here!

We enjoyed a delightful brunch at Chestnut. We had been looking forward to trying this restaurant for some time. It did not disappoint!

These are the shoes I bought at Chico's on the first day of our visit. They were on sale for $9.95!

I hope you have enjoyed our little weekend getaway. Several of you wrote to ask how many suitcases I took on this trip. I had one hanging bag for the jackets and one medium size weekender bag for everything else. That's the beauty of a capsule wardrobe. Use two or three colors that work together and you can create a variety of looks with only a few pieces. I used black, white, and blue items with silver accessories on this trip.

Weekend Fun!

We spent the weekend at the Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina, for their 27th annual comedy classic weekend.

We drove over early so that we could have lunch at Carmel's in the Grove Arcade. After lunch, there was still a couple of hours before we could check-in. That means there's time to go to Chico's!

The manager just told me that all winter shoes are on sale!

New additions to the collection!

Mr. Mickey caught my reflection in a mirror as I was looking for another treasure.

I found these Nine West boots at Saks Off 5th last fall. I wore them on this rainy day with coated jeans from Chico's and a silver-gray tank from Express. The white Evan Picone trench coat from Stein Mart last summer. The gray Calvin Klein bag is from T.J.Maxx.

The giveaway is now over.
Congratulations to Connie Phelps from Illinois! She is the winner of the top of her choice from Covered Perfectly. Below, I am wearing a V-Neck style.

The Chico's Styling Event

Chico's was celebrating the coming of spring this week!

Our local boutique had a special event in the store on Saturday, including informal modeling and personal style tips shared by me with anyone interested.

Every party needs balloons, flowers, and snacks!

Here are two Susans with a lot in common. We are almost the same age, we both own businesses, and we have modeled together several times. My friend Susan asked me for some tips today, so we talked about proportion.

Below is our after the photo. Note how opening up her neckline, pushing up her sleeves, and eliminating the break at the waistline helps her to look taller and thinner.

She also looked great in these muted colors in an asymmetric hem top. Wearing hemlines that do not cut your body in half can really help to visually elongate.

Mr. Mickey bought the Dream Lace-Back Kimono Duster Jacket for me since today is our ninth anniversary of dating. More about that in the next post!

Some of the models for the day are pictured below. Our ages are 58, 65, and 59. You can be a diva at any age!

Here is proof that you can wear a long top even if you are five feet tall.

Stop by your local Chico's store to try on some of the beautiful new spring fashions!

Modeling For Chico's

Occasionally my friends at our local Chico's ask me to model for them. I enjoy these events very much!

I always bring various colors and styles of shoes with me when I am asked to model. As you know, shoes make the look.

The spring merchandise has already started to arrive at Chico's. I bought several of the pieces I wore today. I just had to have these ankle-length Platinum jeans.

I always enjoy getting to meet Fifty, not Frumpy followers when I am out and about. This is Patsy Davis, who also lives in Johnson City. Thank you for coming out today, Patsy!

An award-winning management team!

This pale blue top has a sequined front, so I added a long crystal and silver necklace and suede pumps to make it more appropriate for the evening.

I always find something in the Travelers Collection that I love.

Jane Street and Susan Street... no relation, just long time friends.

There was a great turnout throughout the whole day!

As I was about to dress in my own clothes to leave, a guest asked me to model these palazzo pants. They are so comfortable! They would be perfect for taking with you on a cruise.

An extra thanks to Mr. Mickey for spending the whole afternoon being our photographer. (I was told several times today that it would be great if we could clone him!)
