Beat The Heat!

Dressing for hot weather can be a real challenge!

I don't care for sundresses because they show my legs and never flatter my shape. I am much more comfortable in a soft, breezy oversize top with slim white pants with a smooth wide waistband. Dressing for comfort has to include personality as well as the weather.

Let's face it; I am going to be hot no matter what I am wearing when it is ninety-eight degrees. My comfort level has to do with how covered I am more so than the temperature. I would not be at all comfortable in a skimpy dress with small straps.

A typical summer workday look for me includes a soft flowing tunic by Clara Sunwoo from ShopMyFairLady.com. The fabric isn't clingy or hot, and it always drapes beautifully, so the Clara Sunwoo tops are a favorite summer look for me. The long tassel necklace is from French Kande.

The white pants are by Renaur from Purple Poppy. The putty color sandals are old by Kenneth Cole Reaction.

Prints are normally not for me. If I wear a print, it is usually an abstract geo print in subtle colors such as this one. Again, personality has to come into play as you get dressed. I feel silly in prints most of the time. Ruffles and bling are also details that do not reflect my personality.

A Bit of Sunshine!

Many of you have asked for tips on what to wear in warm weather.

Here in east Tennessee we rarely have the hot humid weather I experienced while I lived near New Orleans.

This loose thin almost sheer blouse is a Portofino blouse from Express. I have them in many colors and wear them throughout the summer with faded jeans, white jeans and khaki pants. I buy them in a size larger than I normally wear so that they are roomy enough in the bust. I hate when the gap happens! I am wearing this fuchsia one as a tunic, but I often tuck in some of the front and wear a cute belt to look a little more stylish. On this day, I was on my way to the grocery store.

The ankle length slim leg jeans are from Chico's.

The wedge sandals are by Antonio Melani via the sale rack at Dillard's last fall. The bag is by Alberta di Canio and I bought it at T.J.Maxx last year. The Kenneth Cole sunglasses are also from T.J.Maxx.
