Wine Cellar Gathering

It may seem as if my life this time of year is filled with one party after the other and you would be correct!

Last evening we gathered at the home of our friends Millie and Don, whom you met on the blog earlier this month.
Millie is known for her sense of style.

It was great to catch up with old friends and neighbors as well as to meet some new people.

Beyond this custom made iron door is the wine cellar.

The entire house is decorated for the Christmas holiday!

I wore a red Covered Perfectly tunic with a long necklace, silver cuff and Traveler's silver cardigan from Chico's years ago. The Tahari black knit slacks are from Ross a couple of years ago. The black pumps are by Nine West.

In January, I am going to settle in for a long winter's nap. For now it is time to get ready for the next party!

Thank you for joining Mr. Mickey and me for our many holiday events!

Holiday Dressing

Do you feel at a loss when it comes time to get dressed for holiday parties?

We have as many as three events in one evening planned for the month of December. It is a good thing I have collected so many interesting textures and shapes in black. Those pieces can all work together to create different looks that can be worn for any event but this formula works especially well for evening.

I found the close fitting V neck long sleeve tee at T.J.Maxx last year. The wide leg very soft thin knit pants are by Evan Picone from Dillard's. The black knit ruana is from Chico's last year. The suede Sam Edelman pumps are from Nordstrom. The statement faux turquoise necklace is from Chico's.

When wearing all one color it is important to mix textures. It looks much richer and the variations in depth of colors matters less. Always wear a black bra under dark clothing.

The closeup below shows the textures and details of each item. The ruana feels like a luxurious silk sweater.

Thank you for joining Mr. Mickey and me on this journey through midlife and beyond. The second fifty years are truly the best!
