Speaking Engagement

My recent speaking engagement with the USDA Forest Service Group in Asheville was such an enjoyable experience for me.

Everyone I met was so genuine and kind. It must surely be a joy to work in that office!

With me is Jennifer B. Parsell Executive Assistant to the Station Director and the Station Director, Rob Doudrick.

The beautiful lady with me is Sharon West. She was the first speaker of the day. I learned so much about diet and nutrition from her brief talk. I hope that our paths cross again soon. She is very elegant, and she has so much knowledge to share.

My talk was live-streamed to thirteen southern states including the offices in the Washington, D.C. district. For the first time I gave my presentation to ladies and gentlemen, so I included more information about the importance of nutrition. I am certain those guys were not interested in hearing about the power of accessories and heels vs flats with pant shapes.

I wore a jacket by Ming Wang with a tank and pants by Travelers from Chico's to give my presentation. The pumps are by Saks Fifth Avenue and the bag is by Zac Posen, both items are from Saks Off 5th.

Later in the day, we checked in at the Hotel Indigo to a penthouse suite overlooking the world. If you are afraid of heights, you would have felt more than a bit uneasy standing at this window.

The boutique hotel is a celebration of modern decor and art.

On the second day, I wore old black jeans and an asymmetric hem black tunic from Chico's. The necklace is from French Kande. The short boots are old by Saks 5th Ave via Saks Off 5th.

We stopped by Carmel's, one of our favorite restaurants for lunch. We love to sit by the window and watch the passing tide of people. Asheville is such a fun busy place to visit!

The tulips were in their full glory so we couldn't resist a drive through the grounds at Biltmore Estate.

Happy goats were enjoying a sunny day at the Biltmore Estate.

I am eagerly preparing for my next presentation at the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce, Prime of Life Showcase later this month.
I hope to meet you there!

Thank you for joining us on this journey through midlife and beyond. The second fifty years are truly the best!

Ming Wang at Dinner

Our weather is still cool and rainy so for Wednesday date night I brought out the mink scarf and a Ming Wang jacket worn over my Adea tank.

The jacket is from the 2013 Ming Wang collection. The wide leg slinky knit pants are from Evan Picone via a great sale at Dillard's earlier this year.  The mink scarf was a long ago gift from Mr. Mickey.

The Steve Madden heels are from Nordstrom and the small evening clutch is from T.J.Maxx. The rings are from Stein Mart. (The square stone is purple like the jacket.) The black and silver earrings are from B'Dazzled in Blowing Rock, NC.

Thank you for joining Mr. Mickey and me on our journey through midlife and beyond.

Rain in Abingdon

That's Rain the restaurant, not the weather. Last evening we had dinner with my sister and her husband at a wonderful restaurant in Abingdon, Virginia.

We had temperatures in the seventies today!

I was captivated by this view along the way so Mr. Mickey stopped so that I could snap a picture for you.

I wore a Ming Wang jacket with black crepe pants and a black tank from Chico's. The shoes and bag are old.

Thank you for reading my blog. I hope you are enjoying a wonderful Christmas time!

Ming Wang at the Symphony

Saturday date night included dinner at our favorite restaurant and a night at the Symphony. I wore a fabulous jacket from Ming Wang.

Founded in 1986, Ming Wang is named for the designer and co-founder, Ming Wang, who has been designing knitwear exclusively for over 30 years. She strives to create garments that flawlessly transition from day to night, for many years to come. I am now a fan for life! This jacket was so comfortable to wear and beautifully made with individual square stones sewn on the edges.

Ming Wang pieces are crafted with a specialized yarn so that the entire collection is wrinkle-free, machine washable, fade-resistant, and travel friendly. Their signature product, structure knits, as well as dresses, pants and other accessories, are available in hundreds of boutiques all over the US, as well as Dillards, Von Maur, and online at Nordstrom.

Dinner at Gourmet and Company included dessert of apple bread pudding for Mr. Mickey and a Grand Marnier for me.

The Symphony performance was fabulous, as always, but I must confess, I was so tired after two weeks of moving and cleaning I may have taken a small nap during it.
