I was inspired by my sister's recent new hairstyle, so I visited her stylist this week. After a couple of years of having the same look, it's fun to change the lines a little.
I have fine thinning, naturally wavy hair, which I stopped coloring after I turned fifty.
The stylist called this a modified wedge.
This is a wash and go look that was styled wet and gently lifted at the roots with my fingers as it dried naturally while I applied my makeup. If I move it too much as it dries, the result is frizz. I never have a lot of time to spend on such things, so my cut needs to be one that works with my hair's natural tendencies.
I like this cut because it provides a bit of sculpting at the nape of the neck since I never want to add bulk there. The crown is lifted, and the bangs are messy but not puffy. Bangs can either flatter your face or make you look stuck in the 1980s. This cut also flatters my round face and draws the eye upward.
Thank you for reading my blog and for all your kind comments. I hope you have blue skies this week.

The new hair cut looks great on you.
You look lovely and I am so jealous it is wash and go. I would love that! I just would need to be more courageous with my curls, I have used devices to straighten for years...although when I was 16, I can remember using coffee cans!! How crazy was that! Have a wonderful weekend!
Lovely. You inspire me to take a chance with my hair. Have had the same look for 3 years and need a change. Need to take the leap. After all it's just hair!
Your hair has a lovely texture, and the cut works well with it. I'm with you on the "wash and wear" styling, don't have time to mess with it.
Beautiful.
Your hair looks beautiful! I love the gray. Someday I may get up the nerve to go that route!
Nice new hairstyle.
Very stylish cut! The new you looks stunning...J
Love the new style. It suits you well and is very youthful.
Love the shaping of your new hairstyle...very flattering. Love that "poofing" at the nape. I have the "stick-straight" version of this modified shag, using a big fat curling iron to give a bit more lift at the crown. Easy!
Love your new hair-do! Oh, how I wish I could wear short hair!
I love your cut !
You are an attractive woman who has a lot of class & style. The haircut is perfect for you. Do you have naturally curly hair?
