Drive Your British Car

We always enjoy attending the Drive Your British Car Show. It is hosted by Gourmet & Company in Johnson City, TN, each May.

This is always a relaxed, casual event. We visit with lots of old friends while we admire the beautifully restored cars. This year, my look included white capri pants from Chico's with a royal blue Portofino shirt from Express. The wedge sandals are from Dillard's last year.

This is always a fun evening!

Fuchsia and Khaki

On the last day of our Martha Washington Inn visit, we had a leisurely late breakfast before taking a long drive through the country on our way home.

Two weddings were held at the Inn this weekend, so there were abundant flowers everywhere.

I wore a fuchsia washable linen boxy shirt with a tie front and a longer back from Chico's for the drive home. Shoes by Sam Edelman.

The pull-on smooth fit khaki pants are by Fabrizio Gianni. The super-comfortable pants are made in the USA.

I hope you have enjoyed the photos from our weekend getaway and that we gave you some ideas for what to wear during your own fun times. More adventures coming soon!

Portugal Wine Tasting

On a recent Friday evening, we got together with our Wine Club friends to enjoy tasting some great wines from Portugal.

I wore white jeans and a white tank with a lace front Travelers jacket and a necklace, all from Chico's. The black pumps are by Steve Madden.

We always look forward to seeing Rick and Sandy Jelovsek again because we learn so much from them, but we also get to meet new friends each time we get together.

Larry and Debbie England graciously hosted this tasting event at their beautiful home.

Rick is discussing what regions of Portugal the featured wines are from.

I have worn this topper with all black in the past here, but I like the contrast with the white much better. Try combining some of your wardrobe pieces differently. Sometimes you can find a new favorite outfit you never considered before.

Casual

Sometimes there's nothing better than a drive through the countryside on a warm spring day. We did just that earlier in the day on Saturday.

We briefly stopped in Jonesborough, the oldest town in Tennessee.

I am wearing Kut from the Kloth jeans and wedge sandals from Dillard's last year and a white tank top from Chico's. The blue cotton and flax shirt is another one from my friend's boutique in Kingsport, The Charlemont.

Black and Blue

Black jeans are a winter uniform for me.

It was warmer than anticipated on Sunday. The scarf was removed within a few minutes.

I found this quilted faux leather jacket on sale last week when we visited Dillard's in Asheville. The sleeves and back are a very soft knit material.

The cobalt blue shirt is from Express. It is one of their Portofino shirts. The gray quilted bag is also from Express. The black jeans are from Chico's.

It was great to take a walk through Johnson City’s Memorial Park campus on this sunny warm winter day.

The suede and reptile print black boots are by Vince Camuto from Nordstrom.

The Doughboy statue honors all those from Washington County who gave their lives in World War I and II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.

Cashmere

Last fall, I purchased my very first cashmere sweater from Ann Taylor.

I probably had a bad experience with itchy sweaters in my earlier days because I have never felt the need to own a cashmere sweater.

Now that I have worn this elegant fabric, I must have more! It is warm but not bulky and oh so soft. It isn't itchy at all. I will wear this one for three seasons, so it is well worth the investment.

The black jeggings are old from Chico's. Both the ombre scarf and the suede and reptile texture boots are by Vince Camuto.

Birthday Weekend on Sunday

On Sunday, we wrapped up our stay at The Martha
and stopped for some photos on our way out of Abingdon.

The residences, churches, and storefronts along Main Street are fascinating.

I wore off white jeans with a chambray shirt and a white tank top for the trip home. All items are from Chico's. The Jessica Simpson shoes are from T.J. Maxx earlier this year.

Many of the buildings in Abingdon date back to the 1770s.

This serpentine brick wall was built using hand made bricks many years ago to give privacy to the home's backyard above.

Our journey's next leg included stopping at White's Mill, which long served the neighboring community. Since the late 18th century, the mill provided meal and flour for the farm and kitchen and a gathering place for sharing news and views.

The Mercantile, formerly the Cumbow Store, provided those store-bought essentials and extras that any home needs.

The contents were left as they were many years ago when the mill was still used.

The port o john is appropriately hidden in an outhouse.

This abandoned store along the way captured my attention from afar.

Before our wonderful brunch at The Harvest Table in Meadowview, we explored Emory, the home to Emory and Henry College.
