Monique Jutras Carr is a very talented artist whom we are lucky to count as a dear friend. Her work is being shown at Alta Vista Gallery, located in Valle Crucis, North Carolina, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
On Saturday, we decided to take the beautiful drive to Valle Crucis on our way to dinner at Rowland's in Blowing Rock.
Our visit to this gallery was a joy from the moment we stepped onto the manicured grounds. Located in a stunning valley surrounded by verdant green mountains, even the drive to this location is a pleasure.

We will not miss Monique's show in October. I have my eye on the piece above! Many pieces in this gallery caused me to take a long pause to enjoy the work's intricate beauty.
We look forward to revisiting the gallery and Valle Crucis. We are now planning to stay in one of several Bed and Breakfasts to relax and enjoy a full weekend there.
There are many unique properties in the surrounding area. Boone is only about eight miles away, so it is a very short drive to many excellent restaurants and shopping.
Dinner reservations were the only reason we cut our visit to Valle Crucis short.
We always look forward to our meals at Rowland's with great anticipation!
The restaurant is named after the owner's father.
A selection of salts from around the world is offered at your table.
Each course was paired with Gary's best wine selection, the very knowledgeable manager, and sommelier.
Divine heirloom tomato salad!
Superb mushroom bisque.
That's grilled wild salmon over roasted corn and lobster potato salad. Mr. Mickey couldn't wait to dig into his favorite entree!
We can't resist sharing a decadent dessert occasionally.
My jacket is by Damee NYC. The pants are the Jana style Lior Paris pants. Both are old from ShopMyFairLady.com.
The white layered tank top is from White House|Black Market. The shoes are old by French Connection via Saks Off 5th.
Without rain, you can never see a rainbow.
Probably qualifies as a perfect day! Your outfit is beautiful and perfect for just such an outing.
ReplyDeleteThat painting you have your eye on is gorgeous! And that food looks divine. I love little get away trips like this. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Btw, I love your jacket.
ReplyDeleteThe paintings are just gorgeous, and I love your jacket. I have a question that may be slightly weird (sorry), but I have to know: When you wear a lot of tanks with jackets, do you have to dry clean the jackets more often because of the armpit situation? Or are the jacket armscyes cut low enough that it's not an issue?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful area and pictures. You look nice.
ReplyDeleteMy eye is on that painting as well!!!! Stunning art, stunning nature, stunning woman...a trifecta indeed!
ReplyDeleteGraphic prints suit you very well. The painting is gorgeous. I also like the one where you standing nearby. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful day! The black and white jacket looks fabulous. Can you tell me if it is lightweight? I ordered a faux red leather jacket after seeing it on your blog and it is fabulous. I am beginning to plan a fall trip and your. blog has been my travel itenerary.
ReplyDeleteSusan, you are Devine. Such a inspiration, l look forward to every post!
ReplyDeleteThe jacket is very lightweight. The black is actually open mesh.
ReplyDeleteterrymhp, I only wear jackets on cooler days or in the evening. I get them cleaned as needed. I wear one of those washable tunics or some other sort of washable top on hot days.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great evening! Such a beautiful setting for dinner too. I love that painting you have your eye on! Thanks for sharing all of your weekend trips with us!
ReplyDeleteSusan, I look forward to your posts and love your enthusiasm! Thank you for sharing your ideas and your adventures!
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit and especially the jacket. I wish they carried petite sizes.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice location and good looking food!
ReplyDeleteLove the art work - I can see why you would want to buy one!
At some point Susan could you post about different lengths in jackets? It is something I struggle with- if I'm wearing something too long or too short.
Have a great day
