Mr. Mickey treated me to a wonderful weekend away at the Westglow Resort and Spa to celebrate my 60th birthday. I wore a tank top and jeans with flat shoes for traveling.
The Westglow is situated on the top of a hill overlooking fabulous mountain ranges from every angle.
We stayed in the Grand Master Suite during this visit. Every elegant room in the mansion is decorated with different fabulous antiques.
I turned 60 this year. When I was much younger, I would have considered that a depressing thought. However, now that I have arrived, I feel as if my life is just beginning. The difficult training part has been successfully completed, and now I am ready to start enjoying my life.
I found the white linen-like jacket on a sidewalk sale rack at Stein Mart last month. It is by Calvin Klein. The Michael Kors jeans were also purchased at Stein Mart last year.
The gray tank top is a couple of years old from Chico's. The scarf is by Halston Classic, and I think I got that one at Nordstrom. It is a large chiffon square that I folded on the diagonal to form a long thin scarf. Then, I just draped it around my neck for a pop of color and pattern.
The bag was from Express last year. The shoes are by Circa Joan & David via Saks Off 5th.
When I purchase simple basics in solid colors, I can wear them in various ways and for years to come.

Happy birthday, Susan! I am sorry that some people feel the need to be so negative and hurtful. I don't know but maybe that somehow makes them feel better about themselves. I certainly enjoy reading your posts and wish I had a little bit of your self discipline. You are a beautiful lady! I look forward to following you into the next adventures in your blogging life! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the new site. I enjoy reading this one and will try out the new. Thumbs up for trying to help those of us that are struggling with figuring out the options out there. It is impressive that anyone dares put yourself out there with the potential for slights from hidden masses. Jayne
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! They are about 60 years precious! I love your look, so balanced and elegant. The gift is fantastic, the place looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteMy heart sank a little when I read this was your last post and then I was thrilled to read you are continuing . You are a wonderful inspiration and such a pleasure to follow. I will never understand why people can be so hurtful when they do have a choice, the choice being to follow your posts or not....
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for your future endeavours, you have worked very hard to become the person you are today.
Happy birthday! My birthday is also today@ I am 66. Love your outfit. The white jacket looks crisp and snappy! I am very sorry for unkind remarks that others have made. You look fabulous and have great style and taste. I hope you have a lovely birthday!

ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! Please ignore anyone who says you are preaching. Your tone has never come off that way to me. Why are they reading, then? I am 44 and can learn so much from you. Your blog is ageless. Please keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Susan ! and thank you so much .....

Happy Birthday Susan! I enjoy your blog, I feel you share "ideas" "suggestions" "tips" with us! You are special in that what you share is "YOU" How people take it otherwise I do not understand! Keep it coming girlfriend! Rhonda
ReplyDeleteNo matter what you do in life there will be those who try to "rain on your parade". Those are their issues, not yours. I'm so happy you choose the "high road" and continue on with your calling. I find you such an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I will turn 60 this year too, mixed feelings about it. I enjoyed this site & look forward to the new one.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you will continue to blog and bring hope and beauty to so many of us. Shine on Susan.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! I am just a few months behind you in age. It has been so interesting to follow your style journey and I look forward to your new website.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your blog so much.....Negative people are always out there....No worries...there are many that love you and your willingness to share your ideas <3
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Susan. Today you enter your 60's and I enter my 70"s. My 60's were wonderful years. I did a lot of traveling and saw many beautiful things in the world. I also saw the birth of my beautiful granddaughter. I hope you are able to enjoy the decade as much as I did.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Susan!
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed reading and following your Blog for the last few years and am so glad you will be continuing. I admire that you continually evolve and change your style, which inspires me to try new things. How many of us have been guilty of wearing the same lipstick colour for years or the same hairstyle? Change is good!
Looking forward to your new Blog page and shopping....... hoping my favourite cardigan/jacket and necklace will be there. :)
Happy Birthday Susan! I'm just in front of you by a year -- so far, sixty is great! Have a wonderful one -- can't wait to see your new blog.
ReplyDeleteAnd gracious! Sigh, Sometimes I just don't know what's wrong with people who want to suck the joy right out of life...how sad for them!
All the Best!
Martha
I cannot believe the negative comments you mentioned! Sounds like sour grapes to me. I LOVE your every post and picture and am so glad I found you. I look forward to to seeing the new site.
ReplyDeleteSusan, your posts have given me a new sense of confidence in finding my style.
ReplyDeleteIgnore the haters - in fact, pity them. To be so hateful shows that they are feeling very insecure.
I'll keep on reading your wise words - thank you for all your encouragement.

Happy Birthday Susan and Welcome to the 60's!! I have a birthday in 2 days - 62. Like you, I look forward to life every day. Love your looks and suggestions. Enjoy your birthday and your new chapter.
ReplyDeleteYour posts and blog are inspirational and positive. Thank you for presenting your graceful approach to life. We readers are free to celebrate your successes and suggestions...and we are free to not adopt ideas if they don't fit our own personal style. Keep following your heart!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I will turn 60 in 6 months and I am so happy about it. Retirement from my full time job is on the horizon and I have so many other things I want to do.
ReplyDeleteAs far as getting negative emails from readers, I am not surprised and I hope you have a way of setting them aside and ignoring them. It says so much more about their level of comprehension and understanding that it says about the content of your blog.
I love knowing what works for you and why. Many things you wear would not work for me, because I have also invested much energy into learning what I like I understand my proportions. For example, even if my feet would let me wear high heels, I'd never do it. I am already tall and I absolutely hate towering over other people.
Writing a personal style blog has got to be tough! But I think you strike just the right tone. Carry on!!!
Happy Birthday!!! Welcome to the next decade! Your gracious response to criticism reveals what a lovely and beautiful soul you are in this world.

The best birthday ever to you, Susan! (At least until next year!)
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
