Our temperatures may start out in the morning at forty degrees, but it might be seventy-five by mid-afternoon. What to wear?
A trench coat can be the perfect topper during seasonal changes. I look ill in the typical tan trench coat, so I have a short black one and this white one for my cool coloring. I found this one on a sale rack at Stein Mart a couple of summers ago. It is by Evan Picone, and the black one is from Express.
This tank top by J.Jill was the perfect addition to wear with my gray cashmere sweater. Wearing classic simple tanks and sweaters in neutral colors layered with a pair of nice jeans is always a flattering and comfortable casual look for me. Both these items were supplied by J.Jill. I wore them with jeggings and a necklace from Chico's. The bag was by Ralph Lauren via T.J.Maxx last year.
I started out the day in my usual heels. These are by BCBGeneration via Saks Off 5th. When I know I will be walking a lot, I take a cute pair of flats with me for later in the day just in case. These animal print flats with a patent leather toe cap are by Rockport.
When Mr. Mickey stopped by to snap these photos for me, he brought these beautiful white flowers and the perfect anniversary card. It is the same one I gave him! We have given each other the same card on the same day several times during the ten years we have been dating.
Great blog post! I have the same trouble with a khaki trench coat. You've inspired me again! By the way, I love those higher heels!
ReplyDeleteI have never owned a trench coat but recently acquired one from my sister - it is slightly too big for her. The best part is the colour- cherry red. Will work brilliantly with my mostly black, white, gray and red wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteOh how I wish I could find a single breasted trench coat like that. Great post!
ReplyDeleteWe have to layer in South Texas...the afternoons are 20- 30 degrees higher than mornings right now! You look lovely as always, Susan. Happy 10 years!
ReplyDeleteYour post is so timely for me (and by the way you look stunning. Mr. Mickey is a lucky guy.) We are leaving in 4 weeks for a whirlwind tour of the south on our way to my nephew's wedding in Orlando. Stops along the way in Asheville, Charleston, Savannah and the Gulf coast of Florida. Since I am from the frozen north, I am in a quandary on how to pack. Trying to rely on some packable summer dresses and ankle length summer pants, but I don't want to over pack nor come up short. Any suggestions? I'm usually pretty good at this, but I've always traveled to cool climates.
ReplyDeleteTrue love! Mr. Mickey is a keeper!
ReplyDeleteKristien62 pack tank tops and light jackets or cardigans. You will be able to layer as needed. I hope have fun and enjoy your tour of the south.
ReplyDeleteOh, Mr. Mickey is a romantic and a keeper! I have a few trench coats, love them in the Spring and early Fall!. Love your outfit and I also take flats with me when I know I will be walking alot:)
ReplyDeleteYou always look so beautiful and I think it's more than your fabulous outfits and pretty face--you wear your happiness well:). Congratulations on your anniversary Susan!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary!! You look terrific in any shoe. Heels or flats, it all looks great on you.
ReplyDeleteLike the gray pieces. I with you about many of your comments about necklines that look better on round faces and colors that look best with your skin tones. I have those issues, too. Happy anniversary to you and Mr. Mickey. I like that saying, "love is lovelier' the second time around!"❤️
