We enjoyed one last holiday splurge yesterday by having brunch at the Grove Park Inn's Blue Ridge Dining Room.
I have to admit to you, I screamed when I weighed myself this morning. I gained four pounds during Christmas week! Eeeeek!
I haven't gotten on the scale in a few days because I knew I would just stress out. By the same token, I have not eaten with wild abandon. Even with tiny portions and limiting the desserts to a minimum, I still gained weight.
Having late dinners and rich foods I don't normally eat were the culprits. It was wonderful to spend special times with family and friends, but I am happy to return to my normal routine today.
That's a glass of filtered water with fresh lemon. I will be drinking only this today. (I use a glass Hummingbird straw because lemon can damage tooth enamel.) There will be fresh fruit before noon and one large leafy green salad late this afternoon.
As we were leaving the resort, we ran into my sweet, wonderful friend Rose who was also spending the day there with her family.
I wore a tank top and pants from Chico's. The cardigan is by Adrienne Vittadini via Saks Off 5th. The suede shoes are by Sam Edelman via Nordstrom last year. The bag is by Ralph Lauren via T.J. Maxx.
I bought the necklace at S.M. Bradford while we were in Hilton Head last month.
I recently learned another sweater hanging technique, and I want to share it with you. I hope it helps you to avoid shoulder nipples.
Great tip for hanging sweaters!
ReplyDeleteI'm laughing so hard at "shoulder nipples!" I've never heard it put that way but that is the perfect term. I've always used padded hangars for my sweaters but they take up more space. I'm moving and downsizing again so I'm going to adopt this folding method for sure.
ReplyDeleteI am screaming right along with you...gained weight...ate too much...didn't exercise...not good. Thanks for the tip with the lemon water and sweater hanging!
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit! I have never shopped at Chico's but maybe I should rethink that! Great sweater tip!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great sweater folding idea! Thank you. That color blue looks great on you. Any tips on how to store a beaded top?
ReplyDeleteHi Babycakes, I found a great article about caring for beaded tops. http://coutureallure.blogspot.com/2011/06/caring-for-vintage-1960s-beaded-and.html
ReplyDeleteGenius! I am rehanging my sweaters today!

ReplyDeleteLove that color of blue. Great tip on the sweaters. A good time to work on my closet as we are getting 7-8 inches of snow!
ReplyDeleteHi Susan, Wanted to tell you how much I'm loving your videos. You do a great job with them, you're so good on camera. And the info is always very useful. Love your site, keep 'em coming! And...say hello to Mr. Mickey - he's a sweetie. Happy Holidays!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the sweater hanging tip.
ReplyDeleteThe royal blue is very pretty on you and I love that beautiful opalescent glass necklace. It's a great accent piece.
I just enjoyed watching several of your very helpful videos and learned a lot from them.
Happy New Year!
Hi Susan, question about the Hummingbird straw. You mentioned that you use the straw because the acid in lemon juice can harm tooth enamel. this is the reason i don't do the lemon water and i would like to, but,it does bother my teeth. so how does the straw help?
ReplyDeletethanks, Happy New Year!
Cher
By using a straw, you can deposit the water further back on your tongue, in a sense bypassing your teeth.
ReplyDeleteThanks Susan and thanks to my friend Izora for introducing this page to me.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful necklace :) with royall blue and your blue eyes - perfect. Not to mention your shoes :) Great look - Margot www.iameverywoman.pl
