This is the busiest time of the year for my company. We are so grateful for all the designers and bead shops who buy their components from us.
A key member of my staff had to attend to a family emergency out of state this week, which left us very shorthanded. That means I needed to help fill orders in addition to all my other daily tasks. That's why you haven't heard much from me lately. There hasn't been a moment to spare.
Do you wear something special on busy days to cheer yourself along? I certainly do! The black jeans I am wearing are by French Dressing Jeans. The short black boots are by Franco Sarto via T.J.Maxx.
I also got these two fabulous bracelets from Jewels of the Vineyard this week. I love the modern look and comfortable fit of these bracelets. They never get in the way when I am working, and they don't make noise.
This is a tiny portion of the orders we packaged and shipped in one hour this week. All those priority boxes and much more will be out the door by the end of the day. My staff is really amazing!
I respect all of my employees so much. It is awe-inspiring to do the tedious work of pulling thousands of tiny items for orders every day and rarely making a mistake. Regina, my vice-president, has a mind like a computer! She sends thousands of packages to clients worldwide and yet remembers unique instructions from repeat clients. Amazingly that is just one small part of her responsibilities.
Thanks so much for this interesting post. It is great to get a peek into your warehouse. Be careful of burnout!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the peak at the business. As someone who has purchased from Vintage Jewelry Supplies many times, it's so cool to see the set up. And that outfit looks fabulous on you!
ReplyDeleteYvonne, that's a very good question; I've wondered the same thing; also in relation to shrinkage. What combinations of fabrics shrink the most/least, etc.?
ReplyDeleteSusan, it was so great to see this peek behind the scenes! Thanks! Do you sell to home crafters mostly, or to other shops or both? I've thought about making - or at least learning how to repair - my own jewelry so this is very interesting to me.
I also like the practical bracelets. THat's what I need, too.
We sell to anyone LoriM. Come on over to the website! I try to offer the type of business I would love to have had access to when I was a designer for ten years. Check out my teaching website also. FiligreeBeading.com. As for the jeans. I have great luck with the jeans from Chico's and Fabrizio Gianni as well as French Dressing and J.Jill. They all fit well. I don't put them in the dryer for more than just a few minutes and then I hang them to air dry.
ReplyDeleteInteresting post. Nice to see your work. Like your outfit.
ReplyDeleteI loved this peek behind your work life! Looking fabulous as always!
ReplyDeleteI just discovered a store in town that carries a wide selection of FDJ jeans and am going to try some on today as I'm still in search of the perfect jean that doesn't stretch out! I deleted my question yesterday as I thought I had answered my own question and didn't want to bother you.
ReplyDeleteMy question was about the various fabric content in jeans and how they wear or stretch out or even shrink. For example FDJ has some with 95%cotton/5% lycra another with 76% cotton/22% polyester/2% spandex and another with 98% cotton/2% spandex. That's quite a range.
I went through my closet and found that the jeans I hate as they stretch out so much, are the ones with the lower cotton blend and contain polyester. Although NYDJ are 97% cotton/3% spandex and I find I am constantly pulling them up through the day!
Hopefully the sales staff at the store will have good product information and steer me to the best jean for me.
I will let you know what I find out.
Thanks for listening and doing what you do. I really enjoy your blog.
